Some Diversions

Last week while Taylor was on spring break, we went to a place called Stonewear Studios. It’s one of those places where you pick out your bisque pottery piece and paint them yourself. Taylor’s butterfly box needs to be refired, but here’s the two mugs I painted:

Today I decided to get to work on Jalie 2005.

I ordered this back in August and immediately traced off the rounded neck version with the 3/4 length sleeves. I don’t wear a lot of round neck shirts, I’de rather wear V-necks if I had the choice. So why did I trace off the round neck version? I also picked out this tie dyed, purple, interlock fabric. I’m really not sure why I thought this looked good initially, it really looks horrible on me. Really.
The pattern went together really well, but I managed to overstretch the back neckline of the neck and created a lump – I looked like the Huntchback of Notre Dame when I put it on. Needless to say, this is my final result:

I like the fit, but overall, this top is a wadder. I plan on making it again, in a V-neck and in a fabric that I like better (and has better recovery).

Stacy, I like the mugs you painted. You are very creative and I’m looking forward to more creative sewing from you.

    Thanks, suzq!
I wish I could sew as fast as I can mentally plan all these projects, though!
