Just in the nick of time, my dress was finished for my sister-in-law’s wedding reception – and my frantic pace sewing to get it done was well worth it! I’m in love with this dress.
For this pattern I used a size 8 and made minimal modifications. The only thing that I did was take a little over an inch off the skirt length. I had contemplated taking up the bodice length some as well since I was worried about how plunging the neckline was, but decided that I didn’t have time to fiddle with it and left it ‘as is’. The neckline is low, but not revealing and frankly, it looks darn sexy. Overall, the fit is great and I felt fantastic wearing it – it’s a great wrap dress pattern! Fat Quarters & Dresses
I’m sure that there are two questions on people’s minds right now when you enter my blog – how’s the dress coming and what did you buy yesterday?
The Bodice
I know it doesn’t look like much, but this is the current state of my dress. The upper bodice is complete and the hems are finished. The front drape is also attached and hemmed. Now what’s left is the skirt, it’s hems, and the loop that the drape is strung through! Of course, that means another big day of sewing to get this project complete…….
Step 1: Complete
The worst part of sewing for me is the cutting – not just the pattern, but the fabric too. I spent the better part of the afternoon yesterday doing just that, cutting.
