Well, folks, those shorts – they’re a wadder. The addition of the waistband didn’t help them look or feel any better an since most of the seams had been serged already and I couldn’t let the seams out any more to make the legs feel looser (they were also already vented so imagine how tight they would have been without it!). The more I look at the pattern photo, the more I’m thinking that these pants are ‘skinny leg’ pants which I just can’t wear. So, with that said the shorts have become “completed” project #1 in the Win An Amazon Gift Certificate contest (Don’t forget to enter your vote if you already haven’t – and don’t worry if someone already has a number you like – remember that I’ll be doing a ‘random’ draw if there are multiple guesses).
So you’re probably wondering about those Built by Wendy shorts…. Well, here’s where I am right now:
It’s been a few days since I last talked about them, but here’s what stage my Built by Wendy shorts are in:
Things are slow moving on this particular project since we are getting into ‘back to school’ mode (doctor appointments, school shopping, etc.). But as you can see, most of the front is put together, the pockets (which are flipped out so you can see the fun lining) and facings are in place, and the zipper is inserted. So far, so good.
I spent some time with my shorts pattern and am totally amazed at how many pieces it has. I was expecting a quick to whip up project, but I can tell this isn’t going to be it. I also realized that I hadn’t picked up fabric for pocket lining so I decided to use something from the stash:
I love fun pocket linings – I think this one definitely fits the bill!
I searched Pattern Review to see how this particular style fit and didn’t find anything, so I decided to cut a size smaller than what I normally would on this pattern. My city shorts came out large in the waist and I’m thinking that all her patterns may be that way. Now I’m just crossing my fingers that it all fits!
It seems like this week has gone by like a blur, so it seems like it’s a good idea to share with you some updates & some fun links I’ve stumbled across:
