Casual Stripe

If you can look past the fact that I look absolutely horrible in this photo, you’ll notice… my BurdaStyle dress is finished! I can honestly say, this project was a lot of fun to work on (it may also have to do with the fact that I finally got to work on something I really wanted to make). The directions were clear, the pieces went together well, and the fit is spot on. I will caution that even though this pattern is labeled ‘easy’ I wouldn’t suggest it for very new sewers or those who haven’t tried sewing stretch fabrics before – the curved areas are ‘tricky’ to stitch (I suggest lots of pins, just in case), especially in a knit fabric (I think there might be a tendency to overstretch these areas). Otherwise, the effect of this dress is extremely flattering and makes for a fun, casual look in a stripe!

I’ll be doing the draw for the Singer One sewing machine later on in the day. After I have a chance to contact the winner, etc. I’ll be sure to make an announcement on the page!

Looks great on you :)

My what a tiny waist you have my dear. Oh, it’s the illusion. LOL You still have a lovely waist. Very pretty outcome and does look good on you.

Looks great on you!

This dress is fabulous!!!

You look fabulous! I made my first Burda dress and have yet to take good photos. I’m hoping this week, but I was thrilled with it!

Thanks also for sharing my bathing suit/tote tute!

Wishing you a happy (and healthy) weekend!

Thanks everyone! I really love this look and it’s a great way to give yourself an hourglass figure! Plus I saw that Michael Kors has a very similar version out as well… I’m feeling on trend! http://www.net-a-porter.com/am/product/347704

That looks great on you! I’m still deciding on a shirt to make for my sewing dare. Then I’ll try a skirt. And then maybe, just maybe, I’ll attempt a dress :)

Looks terrific!!! I am so afraid of stripes in general, but this may have changed my mind….

I looooooove this dress! Love the style, fabric choices and how it looks on you- you must be chuffed with this one! (P.S you look great – honestly make up on and hair done is pretty good in my household).
