Well, it’s done. I finished up the cardigan the other night, tried it on with a variety of clothes and accessories and I have to say, it just doesn’t work for me. The styling (possibly styling combined with the print) isn’t youthful, it’s overly large, and it’s too short to add a belt to try to cinch it in. Totally disappointing. I’m going to take it over to my mom’s to see how she looksfeels in it, but I’ve never seen her in anything like this so I’m guessing she’ll pass on this garment as well. No doubt this cardigan will wind up in the donation pile.
With that said, I think it’s time to move onto spring sewing. I’m spending the weekend surfing my patterns and magazines to figure out what I might make next…. I’m thinking something fabulous to wear for Easter! What is everyone else stitching up?
I’m sad you are so disappointed. Maybe you can just put it aside until you are less youthful, lol. I have a few blowsy tops in my closet that don’t work for me, but I’m getting ideas on how to rework them so that I might wear them and not have to donate them.
Hi Stacy,
What a shame!!! The print is so lovely… the other thought I had was to turn it into wrap around top and shorten to the waist? I am working on a skirt from Burda 2-2008-111… I have no idea if it will work.. I thought I traced a 36 and then realised the sizing started at 38… so in fact I cut a 40…I ended up not adding SA to the Vertical seams..so hopefully I can make this one work too..
Have a lovely weekend

“Sew” disappointing to make something and then not ike it! I’m sure someone will find it fascinating if you donate it.
