Pins, Book Draw, And Upcoming Contest

And the winner of Felt Friends from Japan is….. believe it or not, #1 – Kate from Needle & Spatula! If you didn’t win this time around, don’t fret, I’ve got another contest coming up this week! That’s right, stop by Wednesday for a review of My Favorite Felt Sweets – a gorgeous book that helps you create realistic felt food.

Now that the winner has been announced, it’s time to talk about our weekends! I spent a majority of my weekend heavily modifying a pattern (it’s been a ton of work, but I’m feeling very Project Runway at the moment) and putting ‘pins’ in my Pinterest BurdaStyle, but I’ve really had a chance to play with the site and think it’s amazing! What is Pinterest? Basically, it’s a virtual pinboard – a place to categorize all the things you love, admire, and that inspire. Not only can you keep track of your favorites, but you can also track others boards as well (just a few or all of them) and even allow others to post things that you may find interesting to your boards (this is an optional feature). Currently, I have 10 boards and 48 pins….. but so many more to go!

What has everyone else been doing this weekend?

Ooooh! So what pattern is it? Something for you, I hope? You need to do some selfish seamstressing, you’ve been working too hard on stuff for everyone else. 🙂

So on the pinterest thing, can you “upload” images via URL, or do you have to download them to your computer and then upload them again like you do with Picasa?

You just snag the image directly from the site. You put a button on your ‘bookmark’ toolbar and click on it every time you want to put something on your board.

I used to use Wists that does something similar, but Pinterest is such a better site – it lets you categorize everything so it’s easy to find.

Yay, thanks so much Stacy! I forgot I was #1, that is too funny that it worked out that way. Can’t wait to check out the book, it sounds great! 🙂

Glad you had a fun weekend and congrats to the book winner!

Cranky right now. I worked on the quilt this weekend and have all 35 blocks sewn together row by row and now in total, but the person who sold me the material and talked me into double borders forgot that I’d need MORE material than the pattern called for. ARRRRGH.
