Lacy Dress

With just a week to spare, I’m happy to report that Taylor’s costume is finished (well, I still have that trim to add trim to the jacket collar)! The dress is the last part to complete and for whatever reason, I thought would be the hardest part to put together – it turned out, it was the easiest. The only change I made to this part of the pattern is that the dress is fully lined. Taylor wanted the entire dress to be made of lace, so this was definitely a ‘must have’. We decided to use a lining that would match the panne for the jacket exterior and found a Joann’s ‘Casa Collection’ satin that worked perfectly – the downside? I purchased entirely too much fabric to line it!
Taylor has off of school today (and the rest of this week) so we’re going to see how everything looks together – more photos to come tomorrow!

Very cool! Taylor looks ready to slouch around Harajuku. Could be fun for nighttime trick-or-treating to put blue Kool-Aid in her hair and paint on Twiggy lashes + a little heart on the cheek with eyeliner. It all washes out. 🙂
Alas, too much Casa Collection sateeeeen polyestor lining is certainly a downside for your cutting implements, to say the least.

    Looking very good so far!
Use the extra lining to line bags. A bright solid color like that makes it easier to find stuff in a big bag.

I swear, everytime you post a picture of Taylor, I swear she just grows and grows! I can’t believe how grown up she is. I can still remember how she looked when I first started reading your blog years ago (which doesn’t seem that long ago) and I think that is why I can’t grasp how grown-up she is becoming. She is beautiful! Argh–I better go put a brick on my 7 year old’s head before that happens to her! 🙂
