Ren Fest 2009

So much for getting book reviews up this weekend….. Instead, yesterday, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and hit the Renaissance Festival. I was disappointed in the costuming, but we all had a great time, none the less. We came home burned, sweaty, and tired and took lots of photos to remember the occasion – this one of Taylor and Easton was one of my favorite.

Cute photo! We went to our local, really elaborate Ren faire a few weekends ago! There were lots of great costumes, plays, shows, jousting & weaponry, shops, food, etc. But then, our faire is a yearly, long-running thing with a permanent location and many buildings, all set in a woods. One shop had “court ladies” gown/corset/chemise sets that cost over $700 – very well-made and of wonderful fabrics. They were also very heavy and too warm to be worn except in a drafty castle, I think!

My heavens, they are growing up so fast; and so medieval-y :) What the youth will wear these days, honestly! Seriously, they’re cute as a button.
