Zippered Panels

Category : Amy Butler's Field Bag

It took awhile, but all the pieces of my Field Bag are fused! I really love the fusible fleece, but find it tricky to get it to ‘stick’ without a lot of ironing – it’s well worth it though, I’d rather press, press, press than have to baste!
I also managed to start sewing the zipper section together. However, I’m a bit disappointed at how mine turned out. Since zipper tapes can come in a variety of sizes, you have to measure where the zipper is placed on the top panels…. apparently I was ‘off’ somewhere because there is more tape exposed on one side than the other. It bother’s me that it looks like this, but not enough that I want to start over – unless it effects construction later on.

How’s everybody else’s bag coming along?

I am not seeing the pic stacy…is it my viewer?

Can’t wait to see how it turn’s out….I don’t feel confident enough to make it yet. What is your opinion on skill level for this?

Anary, it’s my fault – I’m in the process of fixing it now!
Susan – there’s an option of skipping the zipper on this bag and from the looks of it, might make the construction much easier. You could also take some shortcuts (like purchasing cording if you’re not comfortable making your own, etc.) which might help as well. I would say an advanced beginner (with some bag making experience) to intermediate?

No kidding! I was wondering if the cutting machine actually worked. So glad to have your review. However, the photo you posted is the bias tape maker.

Fusible fleece is my BFF! I love the stuff too.
