With my paisley halter complete (and just in time for today’s super sweltering heat), I’m ready to start on my Field Bag. Now that everything is cut, it’s time to start fusing all the fabric, interfacing, and fleece together. I started last night, however, I’ve decided that my trusty sewing iron is about on it’s last leg…. it’s just not getting hot enough. I guess it’s time to pull out the ‘good iron’ – it gets super hot and has a great steam setting, but I can’t stand the automatic shut off feature. I’ve decided that it is not a sewer’s friend. I think I may start tracing off the Maxi dress today instead – my fabric arrived yesterday.
Oh yes, did I mention I went fabric shopping? I was very tempted by some of my favorite site’s holiday sales, but wound up shopping at Lucy‘s who had some new fall fabrics listed that would be perfect for the kids.

The first fabric will become the Burda Maxi dress – it’s a nice lightweight cotton stretch, although not a border. The print is slightly ‘off’ which is why it was so inexpensive ($12 for 3 yards), however you really can’t tell unless you look very close. I love the whole Pucci vibe to this fabric which is why I couldn’t pass it up.
The second fabric is a camo thermal print. It’s not overly thick which is perfect for Easton a shirt and\or pajamas this fall. He’s growing like a weed (we had a check this week and he had a BIG growth spurt) so it’s time to start thinking of new clothes.
The skeleton material is just for fun! The print is a lot smaller than what I expected, but it will still work with what I have in mind – a raglan shirt (using this print for the sleeves) and an iron on transfer (or maybe a making a template and using a glow in the dark paint) for the center of the shirt. I’m thinking Halloween……
Lastly, a pink and brown thermal knit for Taylor – she loved her thermals so much last year, I thought that I would start looking for prints she could wear this fall. I know, it’s 100 outside and I’m already pondering winter!
By the way, someone please buy up these Patrones and Female magazines – I’ve been so tempted to purchase them!
