Castro’s Crown?

Since I was so productive in tracing patterns and cutting fabric over the long weekend, it was time to fire up the sewing machine and get to work. My latest project is the Military Style hat from Amy Butler’s Little Stitches. This was one of those patterns that immediately caught my eye and I knew that I had to make this at some point. I chose a dark green denim (very military looking, IMHO) from the one Walmart in my area that still has a sewing department for the exterior fabric and an Amy Butler paisley (out of print) fabric that I had in my stash for the lining. I got to a good stopping point and have a hat crown completed:

So far, I love the way it looks, although the down side…. I selected too thick of material and I can tell that is going to give me some ‘issues’ when I start attaching the brim. Plus Bret looked at it and said (between the style and my color selection) Easton’s going to look like Castro – I’m just ignoring that comment.

It looks good so far. I don’t know what the hat is supposed to look like but if it does have a cap-type brim then perhaps… I can’t wait to see your little Castro in it.

Gosh, ANY hat is cute on a baby and Easton is cute to begin with, so how could it fail. Besides, Fidel was arguably the best-looking commie when in his younger adulthood. LOL
Can hardly wait to see the look.
