Wednesday’s Links

With the holiday’s right around the corner there have been lots of tutorials, links, and books that have really caught my attention. So, I thought I would share some of my favorites – which means link-y goodness!

My favorite bag making site, U-handbag, is holding a 2 year blog-o-versary contest! Up for grabs – all the materials (handles, fabric, etc.) you need to make your favorite purse or bag from one of fabulous tutorials! (She also runs a monthly contest where you can win Amy Butler patterns!)
Love Gingerbread houses, but hate the mess? Now you can decorate you own virtual Christmas goodies! [link via Allsorts]
Chronicle Books and Sublime Stitching are sponsoring a Sublime Stitchmas Handmade Gift contest. Grand prize includes $100 Sublime Stitching Gift Certificate, $80 Chronicle Books Gift Basket,
$80 Gift Bag from Naughty Secretary Club. Don’t know how to embroider? Then check out Jenny Hart’s tutorial on ThreadBanger.
Melissa of Fehr Trade recently posted a link to a webcam feed of a Budapest fabric shop and I’ve been fascinated with it ever since (from what I’ve seen it’s a busy shop)!
Need a quick present to make for the sewing enthusiast? How about a scissor caddy? [link via Niki’s Ventures]
Anna Maria Horner recently appeared on the Martha Stewart show where she made the cutest Painted Fabric Silhouettes (Amy Butler also has her own version which can be found here). I’ve been thinking of trying them out once I decide on a theme for the baby’s room.
Speaking of Martha….. Fans of her magazine, Blueprint can attend her December 12 show where they’ll be discussing advice from the publication. You can request your tickets here.
I’m about ready to shop thrift stores for old wool sweaters that I can felt – it’s almost time for Betz White’s book Warm Fuzzies: 30 Sweet Felted Projects to come out! You can check out my Cup ‘O Joe pincushion that I made from her adorable kit here.
I’m not sure what you’re supposed to make with this, but I think that Insubordiknit’s eyeball yarn is really interesting to look at.
