Vintage Dita

I have a confession to make. I love Dita Von Teese. She is one of the few people who, on a daily basis, wears retro style clothing – and wears it well. She’s topped best dressed list several times, here’s why:

Ok, so the last photo is of her performance at the Macy’s Passport Gala, but look at all those crystals on her gown! Unfortunately, I haven’t found patterns that are similar to the one’s she’s shown wearing here (I’m guessing because they are vintage or retro style knockoffs), but I’m working on it!

WOW…that purple one is very risque…but absolutely gorgeus.
I miss those days that people used petit coat to go to school…gloves.
PS…I was born many years after that…but I missit anyway..hahah.

Dibs on that first one! I want it for dancing the night away. It also looks easy to copy.
I also need some can-can petticoats. I had three when I was a girl and remember them fondly. One was taffeta, with a hoop in it. Another was white organza, slightly bell-shaped, embroidered and scallop-edged in light green. The third one was multi-layers of different pastel netting. Sometimes I wore more than one petticoat at the same time. There was sort of a weekly “contest” to see who showed up for church with the widest skirt. Ha-ha.

How funny that both Dita and Madonna come from my home town; the staid, conservative, dull little suburb of Rochester, Michigan.
It’s a safe bet the town fathers aren’t going to put either of them on the welcoming sign, anytime soon.
