Taylor has been a huge fan of Amanda Bynes ever since she had her own show on Nickelodeon. Back then, it was obvious someone was dressing her for the program because they put her in the craziest combinations of clothes (I think that they might have been trying to make her look fun or just funny for her variety show), but now that she’s on her own, look how cute she is! I love this casual t-shirt style dress that Amanda recently wore to TRL. Since this is such a simple pattern, there’s lots of options – Simplicity 3692, McCall 9172, Kwik Sew 2627, or even a modification of your favorite t-shirt pattern would work for this one. Pair this one up with a stripe ‘butter’ jersey from Gorgeous Fabrics and you’ll look as adorable as Amanda!

Of course it would help if I had Amanda’s legs!
Are you sure that Ann didn’t make that up and send it over to Amanda?!!! It looks Diva Styling!
love the dress! looks simple to make but I haven’t done much sewing with knits. How do I get started? I don’t have a serger. Do I need one?
You don’t need a serger to work with knits just as long as your sewing machine has a zigzag stitch (a stretch or triple stretch stitch works great too). When you work with knits never use a straight stitch – since knits are flexible the straight stitches will pop and break, using a small zigzag stitch will keep your seams stretchy and move more with the fabric. When it comes to hems, you can either use a small zigzag stitch or use a twin needle. Even though the twin needle uses straighter stitches, it has that zigzag pattern on the reverse side that keeps the hem stretchy, it also gives it a nice ready to wear look.
