I’ll be the first to admit it – I stink at paper projects. I tried scrapbooking and decoupage way before I every tried sewing and I performed horribly at both! Consequently, I’ve given up on anything that requires gluing. However, I’m still fascinated by paper mediums – my most recent discovery, Artist Trading Cards (ATCs).
I went to Hobby Lobby (and a quick stop into Hancock Fabrics which is right next door) with the intention of picking up a couple of things to start my Office Swap package. I had no idea I’d come out with this:
As I’ve probably mentioned before, I’m addicted to swaps – organized, themed ‘get togethers’ where you are partnered with an individual and you craft an item or items for them based on the topic. It seems like when I participate in these events, my creative side really comes out and I’m forced to think ‘outside the box’. I searched all over my sewing area and realized that I not only forgot to cut that particular piece from the fabric, but that I didn’t even bother to trace that piece off. Fortunately, I had plenty of leftover fabric and managed to produce this:
Yesterday, I should have packed. I had good intentions of putting numerous boxes together, but my sewing machine called my name…..
Awhile back, I had participated in a swap and was paired up with a great crafter from Las Vegas. We had tried getting together back in late March when we visited ‘sin city’, but never got the chance. Since we couldn’t meet in person, I had mailed off some goodies for her – and this weekend, this is what I got in return:
How can you tell it’s summer (well, almost summer)? The activity level in our house dramatically increases! That’s why today’s post will have to be in two parts – to give me time this evening to upload some photos! But first, an (non-sewing related) update……
