My Mess

The other day Carolyn had asked to see a (better) picture of my sewing area. First off, let me tell you, it is a MESS! A reall mess. You see, I’m a pile maker. If I don’t have time to put something away it goes into a ‘specific pile’ it may be patterns (one in progress, one that I want to get to in the future, and one that just needs to be put away), or a fabric that hasn’t been put into my shelving unit, or a book(s) that I’m in the process of reading or doing a project from…. you can see where this is going, right? Well, at the moment, my piles are no long confined to my table, it’s now on my sewing chair, the floor around my sewing area, and now the coffee table.

Needless to say, my poor area needs some deep cleaning. I thought that I would get to it this weekend, but it’s still in the same sad state that it started in. So, I’ve dug up a ‘clean’ picture of my sewing area:

Now I should really stop blogging and really get to cleaning!

At least you do specific piles! I tend to just “layer”. It’s like an archeological dig when I decide to use a fabric I bought 6 months ago! Horizontal surfaces are my nemesis.

I am rolling on the floor..I am serious..hHAHAH..I just loved your comment Bernadette..Archeological dig..HAHA..Oh my I think I got to a stage worse than Stacy and Bernadetter combined. Why? I had piles and digs to deal with. After 5 hours. I had a acceptable place to sew…but I am so far away from perfection…

I wish I had a sewing room. Right now it’s the kitchen table so I tend to keep it to one project. But I hate hauling everything downstairs. Oh how I miss basements (none here in Vegas).

I stayed in all evening on Friday to clean up my area. OH BOY! Unfortunatly, my sewing room and bedrooms are the same (boooooo apartment living) and so I had to start by making my bed. It is a king size, and I filled it with just what was piled on the desk. Oh brother. It took a good 6 hours, but I got it done, and I was so productive Saturday and Sunday. But, productivity means the piles start again.
And.. MeLisa… pile making is SO hereditary! My mother does it and so do my sisters. I call it the “curse of the black pile”.

It looks great Stacy! I wish I had a good picture of mine, maybe I should take one. LOL. I just “got” a new sewing room, so rightthisverysecondandprobablyneveragain, it’s organized 😉 I’m really wishing the pic was huge so I can be nosey and see what books/patterns there are there 😉

If I don’t break down and decide to clean it up tomorrow, then I’ll post pictures – maybe it will get me moving on straightening everything up!

    Stacy,
That looks pretty clean to me! I can’t believe I have started something by asking to see a picture of your sewing area…I really just wanted to have an idea of where you create all those wonderful garments!
