Scrap

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my father’s death.

Even though I publish some things about my life, I find that some of the most personal, don’t make it to my blog. My father passing away was one of them. My dad used to call me his ‘princess’ and I miss him dearly. He battled cancer for almost 2 years and never once complained about the fact that he was bedridden or was in pain – ever. He was so brave during this period of time, in a way that I can not imagine, and today I miss him more that what I have during the whole time he’s been gone.
So obviously, I haven’t been sewing. In fact, today, I spent the day with my mom. We had a few drinks, reminisced about my dad, and celebrated his life. So, today, I took the day off – no sewing today (although I did contemplate buying some fabric) and tomorrow, I’ll be ready to go on with life – and my sewing routine. OOh, yes, I decided to hold out for the Hoodie Pattern – thanks to everyone for their input, it really helped!!!! I may go ahead and order from Fabric.com tonight, but it’s fabric only!

I am so sorry about your dad, Stacy. Remembering our lost loved ones keeps their spirit alive. I lost my dad (age 48) to cancer when I (the oldest) was in college. He would have loved having 4 grandsons(only 2 from me!) He was the only dad out every weekend playing ball with my brother and all the neighborhood boys. He never talked about the war but he had landed at Utah Beach on D-day and marched across Europe, libertating Paris, and then on to Berlin. We were so lucky to have him.

I used to work with Hospice patients and it always amazed me how strong and peaceful people could be at the most painful and difficult periods of their lives. Your father sounds like he was such a brave and admirable man. I’m sure you miss him, and I’m thinking of you.

I’m sorry Stacy. We have a 1 year mark coming up next month. I bought some fabric from Hancocks online last night, and 2 patterns.
