With Veteran’s Day right around the corner, both Joann’s and Hancock Fabric had sales starting today.
I started off at Hanocks. Since Butterick patterns were on sale ($1.99), I picked up 3 of the latest – 4914 -the Maggie London mock wrap, 4919 – the retro dress pattern, and 4920. I needed a ‘dressy-casual’ type top for function last night and since the 4920 top said it was ‘fast and easy’, I decided to search the store for fabrics. After about a 20 minute search, I settled on a black matte jersey and a peach and black stretch lace.
Then I made my way to Joann’s – Simplicity patterns were 5 for $5, who could resist? I got 5, most of which I won’t get to until spring.
After spending an eternity shopping, I brought my treasures home and started work on the Butterick top. From cutting to completion, it took around 3 hours. Unfortunately, since the top is black (and the lighting poor) all the details of the top were lost, but I’m extremely happy with how it turned out (and everyone loved my top last night too)! The completed photo, along with costs is on the project sidebar, but you can read my full review (along with a larger photo) here.
